According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.1 square miles (0.26 km2), all of it land.
As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 142 people, 60 households, and 40 families residing in the town. The population density was 1,721.8 people per square mile (685.3/km²). There were 61 housing units at an average density of 739.7 per square mile (294.4/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 97.89% White, 2.11% from other races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.11% of the population.
There were 60 households out of which 30.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.3% were married couples living together, 8.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.7% were non-families. 28.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.37 and the average family size was 2.95.
In the town the population was spread out with 24.6% under the age of 18, 3.5% from 18 to 24, 30.3% from 25 to 44, 19.7% from 45 to 64, and 21.8% who were 65 years of age or older. In 1968 Mackey High School consolidated with Francisco and Oakland City High Schools to form Waldo J. Wood Memorial Jr/Sr High School located in Oakland City.
